West Seattle Crime Watch: Highland Park bust

Just in via SPD Blotter – a drug bust in Highland Park last night:

Police found a big bag of crack stashed away inside a Ford Bronco after arresting a dealer Thursday evening in West Seattle.

Members of the West Precinct Anti-Crime Team were able to call in an order to the 42-year-old dealer, who offered to meet at a convenience store in the 1600 block of SW Holden Street around 10 PM.

Police saw the suspect circle the block in his Ford Bronco before pulling him over and taking him into custody.

Officers got a warrant for the car and found a bag of crack rocks inside the vehicle’s console.

In total, police found 44 grams of crack, a not-insignificant amount, and another 3 grams of powder cocaine during the search. Police booked the man into the King County Jail for a narcotics violation.

We just verified with SPD Public Affairs and yes, as written, this was initiated by West Precinct investigators (downtown and vicinity), not Southwest Precinct (in whose jurisdiction it happened). The officers go wherever the dealer offers to meet them. You can see more photos on SPD Blotter.

It’s possible to be a drug dealer who has a legitimate handicap parking placard too. Differently-abled has many forms. Also, those are Popchips in the BBQ flavor. They’re marketed as healthier than potato chips (the sea salt ones have a kind of rice-cake and pringles texture).

Wonder what is happening at Admiral Junction by Safeway…many flashing red lights and looks like 42nd might be blocked.

Yes, I realize you can be a drug dealer and be disabled and be a healthy snacker but all I have to say is GEEEZ!But I’m happy at least these drugs are off the streets.

I was hoping that this was one of the guys involved in the “drug deal gone bad” shooting that happened a while back, but apparently not. It’s a different SUV and no guns were indicated to be found. I don’t know why they are meeting in store lots at this intersection. Are they thinking the traffic and cameras make it safer for them?

Might be safer than some back alley or inviting buyers to your home, but I suspect the presence of an ATM and/or availability of “roses in glass tubes” to be major draws.

Sorry, comment time is over.
