TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Thursday watch, Christmas Eve edition

(Six WS-relevant views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
Good morning! Another quiet pre-holiday commute so far. Today’s one transit change: Metro is on a “reduced weekday” schedule.

SPEAKING OF HOLIDAY SCHEDULES … coffee, restaurant, grocery-store hours for today and tomorrow (and more) are in our West Seattle Holiday Guide.

WEATHER … The forecast for Christmas morning still includes possible snow showers, but not today.

Traffic is crazy light today – not one car in front of my bus in the 99 lane or entire ramp to 99. Got from Junction to 3rd/Seneca in 15 minutes.

However, a potentially dangerous situation – a car broke down in the right lane just before the Seneca exit ramp on the viaduct. It’s partially blocking the lane next to it too. No lights on. The bus had to swerve around it, which fortunately isn’t too big of a deal because of the light traffic. But be cautious if you’re driving there! The bus driver did call in to report it, so hopefully it’ll get moved soon.

Is it just me or is 35th ave falling apart as we speak in the newer single lane areas. It almost looks like the big crack between Barton and Thistle is going to open as a huge sinkhole. I know this is kind of off topic, but with all the traffic on one lane, throw in studded tires lately, we are almost in need of a new road. Maybe this was the plan all along?

Sorry, comment time is over.
