TRAFFIC ALERT: Westbound Roxbury blocked at 22nd after crash

9:36 PM: Police have WB Roxbury blocked just east of 22nd after a crash. We’re at the scene now gathering information.

9:41 PM: Police tell us two cars collided, and a woman riding in one of them was taken to the hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening, so the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad won’t be called out. They’re waiting for tow trucks, but expecting that’ll be at least half an hour.

Is the circling helicopter related to the crash?

No, nothing about this crash required a search, not sure about the chopper, but somebody just texted us so I’m checking …

Just before this a dog was hit and laying in the road with people on the curb and this red car stopped. It looks like that truck hit the stopped car? Do we know what happened to the dog? I called 911 at 9 when we passed it and i think they were just getting the call about the collision..but had already had a call about the dog.

Leah, sorry, nobody at the scene said anything about a dog … the original scanner call was about a pedestrian and so when we got there we asked about that but found out no, it was two cars that collided … TR

Well hopefully they got the dog out of there then! Someone had called South Seattle animal hospital and said they were going to head there. I called to find out if they had heard about the dog…but that was at 9 just after I called 911. Hopefully the dog and human are both being cared for :(

The crash isn’t mentioned but later last night this did come in (I’m adding to our Lost/Found Pets page): “Rottweiler female was hit on Roxbury and 21st sw. I took her to vet at 930 pm this evening. No collar. Blue pearl emergency vet in Renton. Possible broken ribs and spine. Still conscious. Very sweet. 2063722354”

911 told me last night that a dog and pedestrian had been hit.

The dog belongs to my mother in law. After an overnight stay at the hospital, she was released to us and is doing fine. Any word on how the person is that got hit?

John, I’m glad to hear that. I’ll close out the listing we posted in the Lost/Found Pets section, too. I don’t have any way of checking on the person in the crash, unfortunately, as the hospital requires even media to have a name for them to ask about, and that information isn’t available in police/fire reports. All I know is that the injuries weren’t major. – Tracy
