Followup: Emily’s misdelivered wedding ring has been found!

On Saturday morning, we published Emily’s plea, trying to find out who might have the package containing her wedding ring, remade for her upcoming 10th anniversary, after its delivery … to the wrong address. No one knew WHICH wrong address. But Emily just sent this happy news:

MY RING HAS BEEN FOUND! The delivery driver went to every house on his route…at this house in particular, they saw the news story and didn’t even realize it was in their screen door. My faith in humanity has been restored :)

Thanks go out to everyone who helped look!

and maybe we’ll have one more person working at UPS/FedEx who pays attention to “signature required” packages.

Now, time to find out why I get the grocery advertisements from USPS 25% of the time…

Awesome. The driver took responsibility. And the people at the wrong delivery address were not trying to take advantage. Happy anniversary.

Saw the story here first and told my husband about it at dinner then the next day we watched the story on tv again. Now we are watching tv as a family and just read this and I told my husband you found the ring and he said ‘oh! Where?’ Funny it was a topic that weaved randomly in and out for a few days. We were really happy to hear it was found. We are in all the way in Issaquah. Good job blog!

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!, I cried once when I thought I lost my ring (it had only been 5 minutes!). Another time I was rock climbing and my climbing knots were good, but not not the knot holding my ring on a string around my neck. My climbing partner by luck came on up on the rope… and he actually spotted it! A needle in a haystack find.

Good news. Send the driver a note of appreciation for me. Sounds like they really wanted to help you and did.

Emily, I’m so glad to hear that those UPS/FedEx delivery people found your beautiful ring for you!
This is REALLY GREAT NEWS around here!!!

Those delivery people do things like this all the time. We’ve had UPS trucks come by our old place at about 40 or 50MPH and, from their truck at that speed, throw a box out across our front lawn, that had a television set in it! Of course, when this happened, the television set inside of the box was completely destroyed! We were supposed to have signed for that television set, too, but how does one sign for something with a UPS driver who never slows down below about 40MPH when they quickly come by your house and simply throw your delivery out of their truck, onto your yard — never stopping at all??? I had to laugh when UPS did that with one of our deliveries — I couldn’t even believe it!!! But, I saw it happen!!!
Working for UPS, anyway, is much like being in the United States Army. Each day, they load you (your UPS truck) up at the beginning of the day with AT LEAST 13 hours of work for that day — but they only pay each of their drivers/delivery people for putting in an 8-hour day of work! This was true back in the “Show-Me” state of Missouri, anyway, where we used to once live. FedEx pretty much seems OK as far as delivery companies are concerned — but watch those delivery people at that “On-Track” delivery company. It seems that every time that they deliver anything to us where we live now here in West Seattle, WA, they deliver our delivery to people in a different apartment than ours (people that we don’t even know at all and they WON’T even talk to us), or, they deliver it to people way down the street from us (also people that we don’t even know at all). …They just DON’T seem “too bright”, at all, at that
“On-Track” delivery company… My “favorite one” is this and it is UPS who repeatedly does this to us: There is an apartment or condo building across the street from us that has a locked lobby. We will look on the computer to track a package that we are waiting to be delivered to us and the computer (the delivery company’s website) will then indicate to us that our package has been delivered to us that morning or that day. Further, a notation there says that our package was “left in the lobby”. The apartment place where we live DOES NOT have a lobby, at all! So, we have to wait until the next day, for the UPS delivery people to come through here, our neighborhood, again — and, it is not until that time that they fetch our package out of that locked lobby across the street from us and then, like wounded dogs with their tails between their legs, they FINALLY bring that package of ours over to us, from across the street, yonder over there!!! LOL (HaHaHaHa!!!)
…The above is an absolutely-TRUE story. I’m merely laughing at them, here. [Grin!]
    “…Rock ‘n’ Roll!!!…” Have a nice day and
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and also to all of yours!!!

  • unknown November 12, 2014 (4:46 pm)

WOW Vincent Dakotah Langley…I can’t speak of your neighborhood’s UPS driver but I can for one driver I know very well and this driver works very hard! Most days has 85 deliveries with 300 plus packages for those deliveries (deliveries not pick-up’s) and yes they are expected to do this in 8 hours so until you wear those “shoe’s” I think if I were you I’d think twice of what their job consists of before commenting on how bad they are at their job.

And anyways this is about Emily getting her beloved wedding ring back! Yahoo!!!

  • Cinemama November 12, 2014 (5:06 pm)

That is a nice, happy ending. I feel compelled to note that we’ve had the same UPS delivery driver for YEARS (Seaview area) and he has always done a wonderful job and is also very kind. Ditto for all the holiday drivers and our various mail delivery persons. This Fedex driver sounds like a top notch chap as well (going the extra mile to correct a mistake).

  • unknown November 12, 2014 (5:16 pm)

Cinemama>>>>yes KUDDOS to the Fed Ex driver for correcting his mistake GOOD JOB!

Sorry, comment time is over.
