Mayor McGinn to tour Admiral District this Saturday

At the Admiral Neighborhood Association‘s past few meetings, they’ve talked about plans to get Mayor McGinn to The Admiral District for a walking tour – and it’s finally set. This Saturday afternoon, a delegation including ANA president David Whiting plans to take him from Admiral Safeway to Alki Mail and Dispatch in the span of an hour or so, starting at 1 pm, with issues to be discussed including development and safety.

Perhaps they can take him around to see all the potholes in West Seattle.

Perhaps they can take the mayor to the Admiral lookout on California Ave SW where the SPD plans to install a surveillance camera that has a zooming range of ~450ft. Maybe he would see that the camera would be useful to view the residents nearby rather than for “port security”.

Can’t wait until his replacement is elected.

How about he cross the deadly crosswalk across Admiral at the dispatch, and the one further west to see what great pedestrian environments these create.

That’s what they’ll be talking about at the Alki Mail end of the walk, according to the plan.

I really hope the people of Seattle don’t vote for that fool a second time. Kick McGinn out!

Depending on his planned or emergency obligations for the rest of the weekend, the mayor may well need to hurry or cut short his walking tour. I urge starting the tour at the crossing hazard on Admiral Way to make certain he recognizes it is the neighborhood’s first and foremost concern (assuming it is).

    Dear Mayor,

Where is that public vote for a West Seattle light rail line that was promised during the campaign?

    Sincerely,

    WS

This announcement is not a substitute forum for the walking tour. This Saturday is a chance to bring attention and and an action plan to your concerns. Since you truly want to be heard then join the mayor. But if only three or four constituents turn out, then you’ll likely get what you already got. Can you get rear ends up and out before noon on Saturday and GO TALK TO THE MAN?

    • WSB March 22, 2013 (11:36 am)

Amen, Steve. I can’t say it often enough. Those who show up for meetings, Q/A sessions, etc., are the ones who get answers … and often who get their concerns addressed. If you can’t go, see if maybe somebody can represent your neighborhood, or … I have seen this play out in recent years time and time again. We commit to publicizing your chances to do that – whether it’s a one-off like this or a regular meeting (bringing your questions/concerns to police at the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council, for example) – as best we can. – TR

Here’s video of the mayor and entourage crossing the intersection of 47th & Admiral, highlighting the need for a light there IMHO: http://youtu.be/qWEsQdV53WI

Sorry, comment time is over.
