West Seattle Weather Watch: Now, ‘Excessive Heat Warning’

The National Weather Service stepped up the alert level one more notch this afternoon; now that the extra-hot weather is almost here, an “Excessive Heat Warning” will be in effect tomorrow afternoon through late Friday night – see it here. That means a “prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures,” according to the NWS, which is still projecting highs at least into the mid-90s. If your house is the typical air-conditioning-less Seattle “oven,” as some describe theirs, there are outdoor alternatives both nights – we’ll spotlight them later tonight, or you can skip ahead to the WSB West Seattle Events Calendar now!

Bed Bath & Beyond still has fans, but they just closed. They are expensive ($60-100), but highly rated (Vornado). Target and Home Depot are completely out. Just fyi.

I don’t mind heat, but not bad air. My compramised lungs are going to be working overtime and already has been this summer. I hope there will be some breeze at least. In just over a month we will be getting back to the crappy 8 month rainy season. And if you’re going to leave your windows open, watch for the criminals. They know when it gets hot here people leave it wide open for them to steal your stuff.

Is the Admiral Theater air conditioned?

You can always turn on your fan to your heater with the heat off of course. This will circulate the air throughout your house and help a little. If your unit is in your basement like mine is, it actually cools it a little by bringing up some of the cooler air that some basements have.
