Seattle Lutheran High School‘s football season starts one week from tonight.

This afternoon, the players, coaches, and cheerleaders took to the West Seattle Stadium field for a “Media Day” full of photo sessions and drills, under a perfect blue sky – SLHS blue, of course.

The invitation came from the Saints’ new head football coach, Jeff Scott, who posed with his staff:

We talked with Coach Scott about what brought him to Lutheran, and how he’s structured the team:

Here are the Saints’ seven seniors:

Senior Bryce Morgan (#2) spoke for his fellow upperclassmen during today’s photo shoot. With the coaching change, he said, the intensity is up this year, and the team is more focused. The other seniors are:

#24 – Jake Lamb
#34 – Jackson Lovely
#55 – Kris Sorenson
#60 – Zach Stamborsky
#70 – Mat Hood
#78 – Zach Nigon

The seniors are outnumbered by this year’s 9 freshmen. But they say they are well aware they have leadership roles and responsibilities, and they intend to actively work on that.

The Saints’ cheerleaders were there for photo sessions too:

Toward the end of the event, they joined the team and coaches to pray:

The team will attend Hope Lutheran Church‘s 10:30 service tomorrow, we’re told, where a section of the sanctuary will be set aside for them.

Next Saturday’s season-opening game is at the stadium, vs. Carson Graham, 1:30 pm. This year’s homecoming game is at 1:30 pm September 22nd, vs. Concrete. You can find out even more about the team on its website – seattlelutheranfootball.com.
