Update: House-fire call near Fauntleroy Park

12:27 PM: En route to a house-fire call in the 9300 block of Forest Court SW, which is near Fauntleroy Park. Most of the units are being canceled, so it’s not major. More to come.

12:48 PM: Finally got there to check (it’s on a secluded dead-end street). Kitchen problem – “food on the stove,” as the official Fire Department term for such incidents puts it. No serious damage, no injuries, SFD tells us.

    Hey, WSB,

Do you have any idea what was happening this evening on Orchard Street near California Ave SW? There was a huge response around 6:45 pm this evening with two fire trucks and five police cruisers. There could have been more, but I could not see all the way up the lane. Thanks, ~z

Yes, we checked it out after noting the callout. According to both police on the scene and fire via scanner, two people who either knew or were related to each other got into a fight. One got hit and fell and was hurt pretty badly. However, he also was fairly combative, so that’s why they needed reinforcements. – TR
