West Seattle Weather Watch: Winter may not be done yet

Thanks to Bob A for the glorious view of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, and a state ferry, photographed today from North Admiral. Though we escaped the snow that hit some Western Washington areas over the weekend, the National Weather Service suggests another chance is heading this way – see the latest “forecast discussion” here. P.S. The spring equinox is just three weeks away – 10:14 pm our time on March 19th.

Oh yeah? Well I’m done with winter, I tell ya. DONE!

Thumbs down to weather fear mongering on behalf of news organizations just looking to inflate their pageviews for advertisers. Scaring people into staying home only hurts the local economy.

Reporting what the National Weather Service reports is not what I’d call fear-mongering; I appreciate the heads-up so I can plan accordingly – not cower in my home.

Closing the door on winter officially. At least in my mind…

Thumbs UP to a Local award-winning , “Mom-n-Pop” News Organization, that continues to tirelessly provide real time news, good, bad, fun, funny, sad, informative, at no cost to readers, and limits it’s Advertisers to local ones.

    .

And, unlike most Corporately owned News Organizations, does so with tact, integrity, and class, doing it for the love of the business, and not for the bottom line….

Oh, I understand where the commenter was coming from, as they say, but it is a matter of glass half-empty/half-full. I like snow too – in relatively small doses – and so do a fair amount of people we hear from. And we bang the drum loud and hard for local businesses all the time, whatever the weather. I wish the forecasting around here could be more certain, but all the TV meteorologists I ever worked with over 15 years explained that the two mountain ranges and other influences make it impossible, so we might all be shouting about possible snow and get nothing, or we might all be quiet and suddenly … wham. – TR

    I love snow!

NOAA weather report link is fear mongering? I’ll call mother nature and tell her to bring us some nice warm tropical weather this year…

I like snow too. As long as it mostly stays atop the mountains like in the photo!

I find this extremely helpful as someone that gets out the door in the morning while it is still dark and I often don’t bother to look outside, now I know I should for the next couple of days. Thanks WSB!

Aw, great– now I’ve got “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” in my head. *Thanks*, WSB! = )

    But seriously:
Editors, I appreciate how hard you work, I love what you do for our community, and I sincerely hope that you get enough advertisers to break even so that I can continue to rely on the WSB.
    Thank you!

Just keep thanking any of the ones with whom you do business (a mostly-up-to-date list is on the SPONSORS! tab and of course they all have their respective ads down the sidebar). :)

Oh yes, the National Weather Service is TOTALLY fear mongering. That’s why they issue their bulletins in THE ALL CAPS OF ALARM.

A little dusting, fine, but after last months deluge of the white stuff, I’ve had enough. Mother nature, keep it in the mountains where it looks its best.

Sorry, comment time is over.
