Peekaboo Cupcakery: New WSB sponsor, with a special deal

On this day full of sweetness, we welcome Peekaboo Cupcakery as a new West Seattle Blog sponsor. Here’s what Peekaboo Cupcakery would like you to know about their business:

Peekaboo Cupcakery is a delivery cupcakery in West Seattle. Baker and owner Julia Lee noticed back in 2009 that there weren’t any bakeries in Seattle that offered cupcakes with truly exotic or different flavors. “Most cupcakes I’ve seen and tried are either just chocolate or vanilla with the flavoring being only in frostings.” Julia knew that not only did she have to have the flavors in her cakes, but it had to be in the frostings as well. Her cupcakes’ flavors are influenced by her Chinese and Latina background. To make it extra special, Julia specializes in filled cupcakes with fruit preserves and creamy spreads. Hence, the name Peekaboo Cupcakery.

Julia launched her website in September 2011 and is excited to embark on this new journey in her life. “I love the feeling when someone is experimenting with new flavors,” she says, adding: “I hope my cupcakes will make people happy and open their minds to something new.” Please visit Peekaboo Cupcakery at www.peekaboocupcakery.com, or call 206-388-3690. Mention this article and receive $3.00 off your dozen cupcakes!

Sounds amazing, but I just can’t bring myself to pay $36 for a dozen cupcakes.

Michelle – That’s $33 with the discount, which is on the low side, comparing to other local specialty-cupcake providers – I just checked online pricing for four places, out of curiosity, not having bought cupcakes myself in a long time – TR

Are there any plans to open up a store front? I agree that West Seattle is lacking unique flavors in cupcakes, but I don’t often have a need for more than 2 or 3 at a time.

They sound awesome. I gained 5 pounds just reading the menu! :) Welcome!

A store front would be a really cool idea but if its not doable ATM how about hooking up with some local coffee shop and having them put your lovely cupcakes in their goody case? Just a thought.

Thanks to all for your comments of Peekaboo Cupcakery! I would love to have a store front in the near future. I hope that dream will come true someday! Please support us and try out our delicious cupcakes. I have offered my cupcakes at local coffee shops but they do not want to carry desserts (cakes), just pastries. If there are any coffee shops out there who are interested in carrying my cupcakes, please contact me!

Holy-moly those are some mouthwatering cupcakes they have listed on the website! Wow! Makes you actually want to throw another baby shower.

    Those sound good.

I agree – the flavors sound fantastic. But it looks like you can only order *dozens* of any flavor at a time. My recommendation to Julia would be to allow customers to order a dozen of cupcakes of different flavors…or even better, offer smaller amounts to order. I realize that you probably have to make enough batter for a full dozen, but it’s not very often that I would need a dozen of the same flavor of cupcake, especially when there are other options in West Seattle that allow me to have more cupcake diversity in my order. The delivery fee of $10 is also a little steep, I think.

Just my 2 cents – and my comments are coming from a place of West Seattle love, hoping to help out a new business owner! I’m sure you’ve already thought of this, but doing tastings at local coffee shops (where you offer free samples of your cupcakes to coffee shop patrons) might be a great way to drum up interest from both the coffee shops and patrons. If your cupcakes are as good as they sound, I’m sure you’ll get a great response.

Sorry, comment time is over.
