The sunset before the … well, you know. West Seattle views

We have groused lately that the word “amazing” is overused. However – it truly applies to what graced the sky around 5 tonight, as do glorious, spectacular, breathtaking, (your favorite superlative here). Thanks to everyone sharing photos. (Ever heard the explanation for sunset colors?) Top, Brad Huskinson shot that from the Me-Kwa-Mooks area. Next, JayDee‘s view, looking over Alki Point:

Two more ahead:

DML had a view from Jacobsen Road:

And from Paul Tomita:

As for the weather? Showers between 4 and 10 am – maybe some with snow – tomorrow, for starters. Here’s the newest forecast.

P.S. Minutes after publishing this, we got a comment on another weather story from our volunteer meteolorologist commenter – read his latest thoughts here.

I was at my chiropractors office, (Fauntleroy Chiropractic ~ WSB Sponser ~ the best!) we were looking out their window at the glorious sunset, marveling and I said I wish I could take a picture and submit it to WSB but I knew if I waited just a bit, there would be some fabulous contributions very soon. I was right.., thankyou photographers, Tracy/WSB.., & Dr. Wiebe, my neck and back feel great!

Thank you for sharing the photos. I was told the sunset was glorious but was not able to get outside to see it. I knew I’d find a great recap here on the blog :)

I walked out of the Admiral Bartells and was astounded by the blaze in the sky and “fire pillows”! Five minutes later overlooking Sunset (with so many others:-). )…it had changed! It was still glorious, but “pillows” had dissipated. The “dry” winter has let us enjoy the most amazing winter sunsets!!

I viewed the sunset from the deck of my S. Lake Union building. Reminded me of Gerald Manley Hopkins’ poem “Pied Beauty.”

I was in town near the Market when this was occuring. The view down Virginia toward the market led straight into the glow of the sunset, and literally, dozens of folks were taking photographs.
