Dates set for West Seattle Junction’s Hometown Holidays 2011

Starting to fill up your holiday calendar? More dates to add – courtesy of the West Seattle Junction Association. WSJA director Susan Melrose (in a comment on the Junction trick-or-treat-street discussion) announced this afternoon that the schedule’s now published – see it here. Highlights include the Junction Tree Lighting event, 5 pm on Saturday, December 3rd; Santa photos on three Sundays; mule-drawn-carriage rides on two Sundays; and something new – a nighttime Farmers’ Market, 5-8 pm on Thursday, December 22nd, in Junction Plaza Park. Also watch for your chance to enter The Junction’s $3,000 holiday raffle.

Thanks for sponsoring this and all your great events! It truly is appreciated by the community and makes it SO fun to live in West Seattle! Thank you!

Hey! Has there been any talk of closing the block of Alaska near the park for the tree-lighting ceremony? It was *so* packed last year; it would be great (and safer) if people didn’t have to worry about traffic while the tree-lighting was happening. Thanks for the updates!

We’re glad that West Seattle enjoys these events! Good point Mary. Our new approach is to back the stage into the west corner allowing most of the park for viewers. Last year we had moved it up so that folks wouldn’t have to be on potentially muddy grass. But we need the room and people can wear boots! We’ve also changed up the sound system so that people in back can hear better. The program this year will be shorter and packed with more live holiday music. The Endolyne Children’s Choir is preparing something special! See you there! Susan
