Video: Massy Ferguson @ Summer Concerts at Hiawatha

Another perfect night on the east lawn of Hiawatha Community Center, with at least 250 people here – by our estimate – to enjoy the music of Massy Ferguson, for the second week of this year’s Summer Concerts at Hiawatha series, presented by the Admiral Neighborhood Association.

If you see this shortly after it’s published, still time to drop by and catch a little music; there’s a balloon-twister for the kids, and the Hiawatha Tae-Kwon-Do Club putting on an intermission demonstration as we speak. (photos added)

Hip-hop dancers showed their moves, too, and we’ll add video later. For the last number, all the kids were invited onto the stage:

Next week – the concert will be on Alki instead of at Hiawatha (only location change this year), featuring Yogoman Burning Band, 6:30 pm Thursday (August 11th).

SIDE NOTE: More outdoor music in West Seattle tomorrow night – first of four summer outdoor concerts at Providence Mount St. Vincent (WSB sponsor), with The Haggis Brothers performing at 6 pm. Also free, also BYO chair/blanket.

Everytime I read about them I think of the tractor company with a very similar name. http://www.masseyferguson.us/

We were prepared for the taco truck this time and they didn’t show! Total bummer.

Sorry, I got word of that somewhat last-minute from the ANA – and updated the morning preview as well as mentioning it on Facebook. The truck operators said last week just didn’t pencil out for them, so it wasn’t going to work … next week, by the way, will be opening day at the Safeway across the street so maybe their new deli will have something interesting … along with WSB sponsors PCC and Metro Market in the vicinity … but I digress :) ANA is bummed the taco truck decided to pull out, too. – TR

Not at all surprised that the taco truck flaked. Small businesses in Seattle are very cavalier about reliability. They open late, close early, take two-week vacations (for the entire staff, I guess?), understock key merchandise, and more. Every time I leave the house, I’m not sure if the business I’m hoping to patronize will actually be open or have the merchandise they promise. It’s a bizarre, off-putting contrast to everywhere else I’ve ever lived.

Any business in Seattle that actually kept regular hours throughout the year, and kept the shelves stocked, would destroy the competition.

I love that our friends who have moved to WS fairly recently have made it on the blog in the video.
    SWEET!!
Hey Joe, Christine and Olympia, pretty cool to have free concerts in your backyard isn’t it?

Sorry, comment time is over.
