Followup: New owners for Alki lighthouse-neighboring site

Back in February, we reported on a one-of-a-kind West Seattle real-estate listing – 3221 Point Place, a rundown bungalow on an amazing waterfront site next to the Alki Point Lighthouse. At the time, it was listed for $1.3 million; we spoke with its listing agent Rick Miner (who shared photos including the one above) for our story. We lost track of it until Tim at Seattle Bubble pointed out that it has just been sold, for $965,000 per this Redfin page. County records say the new owners are a couple with an address elsewhere in Alki. So what will become of it? For that, we’ll have to watch the city page for the site. As noted in our February story, the relatives who inherited it from its previous longtime owner had met with the city to evaluate the site’s “buildable potential”; there is no indication of any action beyond “initial information collected” in October of last year.

Like I said, it wasn’t quite unique enough to justify the $1.3 million price tag. $965k is nothing to sneeze at, for sure. 25% off that asking price isn’t too surprising.

It will suck to see an apartment building to go up there.

Looks like a small lot to me. Will probably have some shoreline management questions. May have to grandfather in the bulkhead. Must have been an original old beach shack – it looked pretty old.

If you follow the link to our previous story, there were more details. Built 1918, according to county records.

…and so another nice old house will probably succumb to Italy-in-the-Northwest syndrome.

I don’t begrudge rich people their money. I just wish they’d get better architects and stop watching all those Julia Roberts movies. Or just move to Tuscanny…. ;-)

I wonder what it must be like to know the difference between $1.3 million and $965k…

@ Roz That house is a grounder. It’s been in disrepair for too long to salvage. About 20 years ago it was a nice old house now it’s a run down hazard. Here’s hoping they replace it with a classic style structure even though you cant see it from the street.

Sorry, comment time is over.
