Checking on Jonny Bostons Sandwich Shop: Looks like November

During our most recent round of check-ins on local in-progress projects, from the Wing Dome (opening Tuesday) to the future Trader Joe’s, commenter “rw” asked about the planned Jonny Bostons Sandwich Shop just north of The Junction. (Here’s our story from mid-August.) While driving by this morning, we saw the door open at the 4151 California SW storefront, so we checked to see if owner Dan Atherton was around – and indeed, he was. He told us that he’s now hoping for an early November opening – as you can see from this photo, they’re still doing major work inside (permits took quite a while, as is often the case):

But in a week or so, Dan says, they should be able to move on to drywalling, among other work. As noted in our previous story, Jonny Bostons will be open lunch and dinner, Mondays-Saturdays, for starters.

    Say WSB…
since you are checking on things,
is there any news of the Staples that
was supposed to be going under the new QFC?

Forget the Staples store, put in a West Elm store instead! Apartment size furniture and accessories at a reasonable price.

West Elm… reasonable prices, cheap construction. Can’t wait to throw out my West Elm junk.

I didn’t think West Elms prices were “reasonable” anyway….guess it’s a matter of opinion.

actually, it was supposed to be an Office Depot, not a Staples….and I think it’s on hold, as of the latest news. Nothing like building the place to only have it sit empty. So good for a busy retail corridor :(

West Elm??? Waaayyy overrated, cheap..cheap…cheap…all the way around. How about something the whole community can use? Roller rink? Home or Office Depot would be pretty cool though. Too bad they can’t get something going. Can’t wait for Johnny Bostons!!!

Any word on 7-11 going in at the corner of 35th and Barton ? The franchise sign is still up. The building is looking ugly and getting tagged. The chain link around it isn’t too appealing.

I’m going to open a sandwich shop and call it “Johnny Jimmy’s”

Sorry, comment time is over.
