From the city Land Use Bulletin: Prost seeks sidewalk-café permit

Another brilliantly sunny day, even with the late-winter chill, keeps the spring/summer dreams rolling in. And so does news of another West Seattle “sidewalk café” permit application – this one noted in this morning’s Land Use Information Bulletin from the city: Prost (3407 California SW) is seeking one. See the notice here, including information on how to comment by the March 4th deadline. (2009 Prost photo by Christopher Boffoli)

I say Ja to Prost on der sidewalk! Ja to sidewalk cafes in general! Und it eez time to execute ze outdated prohibition era Washington Liquor Control Board und their pinched-cheek little rules and regulations.

IMHO, sidewalk cafe’s give life to a neighborhood business district. I feel so much safer walking down a street that is filled with people.

You obviously do not live close to Prost. They are so loud when the people are outside drinking. We have made several noise complaints as it is really disruptive.

Wendy G….maybe you should go there and have a brat and a beer….or three….enjoy life

Hard to beat a beer outdoors under the shade of a tree. This will be great Prost! I can’t wait for outdoor dining and drinking season!
(Well, now that ski season seems to have been canceled).

is this permit for the literal sidewalk or out back of Prosit?

ah yes, two side to every story..as wendy says..they are disruptive to the neighborhood when the people are OUTSIDE drinking..we all like to have a good time but it must be within reason.

Prost should keep a better eye on their customers.. and maybe keep them indoors.

Civic activity on the streets makes for a safer neighborhood. I honestly doubt the Prost customers, on a consistent basis, drown out the traffic noise on California.
I DO think people who hear the occasional noise from Prost are probably tuned in to that noise, waiting for it, anticipating it, expecting it, and when they FINALLY hear something it affirms all their notions of the place being loud and out of control.

Sorry, comment time is over.
