See the official final King County election results

checkbox.jpgThe county’s on furlough tomorrow, and has certified election results today – this is it, three weeks after Election Day, the final count. Dow Constantine, who’ll be sworn in at 4 pm (more here), beat Susan Hutchison for County Executive with 325,777 votes (59.04%) to 224,467 votes (40.68%); for Seattle Mayor, Mike McGinn (who takes office in January and just announced 3 town halls – none in West Seattle – today) beat Joe Mallahan with 105,492 votes (51.14%) to 98,302 (47.65%). Countywide voter turnout was 53.2%, half a percent point less than the last major off-year general election in 2005 (after which the vote-by-mail proposal was made). See all the results here.

Its kind of a bummer that turnout is less with vote-by-mail. People are just l-a-z-y.

It is hard to believe that 23% of the population of the city of Seattle lives on this side of the Duwamish and the new mayor is not holding one of his town halls on the peninsula.

McGinn has a town hall for “South Seattle”, which includes us in his geographically confused mind. Never mind the Duwamish industrial corridor that makes us entirely separate communities.

I asked them about that when they first said they’d be announcing town halls, and they said they’re expecting to have one in WS at some point. But no date or location. Kind of reminiscent of the recent city followup meeting on the neighborhood plan status updates – when all of West Seattle was lumped together with Beacon Hill, Rainier Beach, etc. and sent to a “south” meeting at a school on B-Hill … TR

I find it interesting that on election night, Ms. Hutchison blamed her downturn on Dow’s “negative ads”…that the voters were “confused”. Looks like over 100,000 voters were confused, huh. Frankly, I thought I was quite lucid and unconfused when I voted for him…how about you?

    Me too, Jan.

Now admittedly, I’m usually confused. But when I voted for Dow, I was quite lucid. ;)

Over 10000 write-in votes for Sheriff seems like a lot. I don’t know if that says something about the what the residents of King County think of her, or if it’s just because she was running unopposed…

Sorry, comment time is over.
