Another West Seattle power outage – this time, Arbor Heights

“We apologize for the inconvenience this Thanksgiving Day,” says the Seattle City Light recording, updating the second West Seattle outage in two days — last night, the Westwood Village area; today, almost 300 customers (given the area, we’d guess almost entirely residential) in southern Arbor Heights/The Arroyos. City Light says this one is the fault of an underground problem, that crews will be called in from home, and that power may not be fully restored till 6 pm. (Some may have it back already – it was shortlived for one person who e-mailed us, anyway.) 2:44 PM UPDATE: In comments here and a post on our Facebook wall, we’ve gotten reports of other short outages in areas including Lincoln Park and Gatewood.

  • power out here for 2 minutes November 26, 2009 (12:45 pm)

When I got up this morning I noticed that power had been out for 2 minutes and back on. This is north of Lowman Beach on Beach DR.

100th and 42nd SW – Arbor Heights. Our power outage must have just been a blip. After resetting stove, microwave, etc, I noticed the electric analog wall clock was reading within a minute or so of the real time. Other than that, only the computer needed to be re-started.

Just had a several second power outage on Gatewood Hill. Second one in past 12 hours. Means once again resetting everything. Never had this problem in other parts of the city, but West Seattle is definitely a problem with its old equipment.

Over here on 110th we woke up to clocks 6 hrs behind. We have had two blimps today too. But so far still got the juice flowing for our T-day dinner.

Thanx to those great City Light Folks working on a holiday for us.

Clocks flashing when we woke up and power off then right back on mid afternoon. The latter was followed by a loud “boom”. Thought a transformer perhaps blew.

Sorry, comment time is over.
