Didn’t sign up for “Night Out” yet? Reminder – deadline extended

We mentioned this on Thursday, but now that it’s the weekend and maybe you have a few more minutes to mull the idea, here’s a reminder – Seattle Police extended the deadline for signing up to close your street for a Night Out block party this Tuesday, so you have till Monday morning to register online (do it here; then go here to print out collateral including neighborhood flyers if you need/want it). And if you ARE having a party and wouldn’t mind being photographed for WSB, please send us a note – editor@westseattleblog.com – we’ll be covering the night again this year as it unfolds.

How would one find out if someone else on our block has already signed up?

Also, we’re moving shortly and would love to attend our new neighborhood’s night out shenanigans, if any. It would be really nice to be able to find out which blocks have signed up.

Is there a master list of sorts?

yes, I would love to know which blocks are signed up, and which/if any welcome those of us who don’t have a party on our block, or might want to visit folks on other blocks

last year, wsblog had list to go visit all, but it wasn’t open for all to view; actually made me feel sad to hear about all the parties after the fact, that could have been fun to visit

any chance this year of some block parties welcoming visitors?

last year I drove up and down streets to see where parties were, but not knowing if I’d be welcome; I just went home

If it’s in West Seattle you might try contacting
    Benjamin Kinlow

If there’s a master list he’d know since all the form data is being emailed to him :-)

There is not a master list. They don’t even release blockwatch captain contact lists to neighborhood groups. That’s why we are publicly pitching for people to tell us if it’s OK if we come by. But I would hope that he could tell you if there’s one in your area or at least if there’s a Block Watch captain in your area – someone asked us that question at the Admiral concert the other night and I pointed them his way – TR

Love the night out idea, but a hot August weeknight makes it a real challenge for many, especially for those working, those with little kids and seniors. Our area opted out this year just for those reasons. We look forward to a weekend block party in September.

we will be doing one at 21st and Roxbury. Come on over, though keep in mind, it is VERY last minute and will be kinda dis-organized. Next year we will get on it earlier.
