West Seattle Crime Watch: “Desperate College Student” needs help

Along with that photo came this story, headed “Car Prowl, 6900 block 40th SW (up the hill from Thriftway)” [map]:

My car was broken into last night and my backpack was stolen along with all my textbooks, notes, binders, and pens, etc. Please, if anyone finds the following items contact me and I will be happy to come pick them up. I only have two more weeks left in my quarter at school and I desperately need to get my work back and textbooks. Items taken: 1) Textbook: Sol y Viento (Spanish Textbook/Hard Back) 2) Textbook: A Concise History of the Middle East (Soft Back) 3) Pink&Green polka-dot binder with a ton of Spanish homework inside 4) Spiral Notebook with Middle Eastern History notes & English Notes 5) REI Backpack (Olive Green and Light Olive Green) has two pockets and 1 small pocket for pens.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide! My phone number is 206-290-7489 for anyone that finds these items.

Sincerely,
Desperate College Student

What a jerk who did this!

This may not be any consolation, but go for a walk a couple/three blocks around where it happened. If this is a typical smash and grab, the punk who did this just grabbed and ran. Probably didn’t open up your bag until a couple blocks away and once they saw nothing inside that could be easily fenced, they probably ditched it right there. Good Luck!!!!

Did you check the dumpsters in that area, too?
    .
    VERY sorry this happened. :(

I’m sorry. :-( The same thing happened to me about six years ago: my car was broken into in the parking lot of my workplace, while I was working. They stole my backpack with all my textbooks and notes… the week before finals. I had to file a police report and request extensions on everything from my professors. I know it’s incredibly unfair.

I agree with CM’s advice. My car was broken into at All Star Fitness a few years ago and my Boat & Tote was found somewhere near Burien by a kind woman who tracked me down. You never know where it will turn up but I bet whoever broke into your wasn’t going to hang on to some heavy books for too far unless they jumped back into a car right away. I hope you recover your pack and all of its contents soon!

Yes, sorry it happened…also, don’t leave stuff in your car next time (I hope you learned that lesson even though the hard way)…these are desperate times for many and they’ll take what they see especially a backpack (the reasoning being there’s a laptop in it). I think the other responders have good thoughts…they probably rifled through it and then got rid of it…also make sure you file a police report….good luck with school!

I’m so sorry that happened! I took that middle east history class at south seattle last year so if no one comes forward to help I still have the text book and my notes…also, what english class was it? I may have notes for that too. feel free to email me if you need to borrow my notes. I really feel for you!

Thank you everyone for your support and suggestions! I’m hopeful that my belongings will be returned. And yes I have learned my lesson.
    Thanks everyone,

Crystal, best of luck. I’ve had college books/work stolen from my car as well a few years back (thankfully just after finals).

Unfortunately, the one textbook stolen is one that would be useful in my job (not much, but a little useful). I have to borrow my co-worker’s book whenever I need it nowadays (we went to the same college).

I really feel badly that some jerk took your stuff, but it sounds like things are working out okay.

Good Luck to you! Study on…
