Another West Seattle restaurant listed for sale: Yoshio’s Teriyaki

Just found this on our periodic check of listings: Yoshio’s Teriyaki (photo above) in North Delridge is listed for sale, $130,000. Other West Seattle restaurants still listed: Garlic Jim’s ($199,000), Angelina’s ($235,000), Beato (closed, $195,000) and Blackbird (closed, $250,000).

Too bad…I liked their teriyaki…but you know what they say (in the restaurant biz anyway), “location, location, location”…and this was a lousy location (parking and access were terrible).

Wow! Angelinas? Guess discretionary income is ther first to go. Really sad.

Angelina’s has been listed for a long time … 6 months by name, and as a “blind” listing for some months before that.

Yeah, I was saddened when I first read about Angelina’s on here last summer when it was mere speculation on the “blind” ad.

About ten years ago I used to go there frequently and it was always very busy. I don’t go out to eat much these days, but the last couple of times I went to Angelina’s, it was practically empty. It could have been because of the time of day (mid afternoon.) The food I ordered was fine.

Has anyone on here been to Angelina’s at a day & time that restaurants are typically busy? Was Angelina’s busy too? Is their ‘sister’ restaurant called Trattoria Mitchelli in Pioneer Square doing OK?

I live right by Angelina’s. I would turn half of it into a lounge/largest wine bar in W. Seattle. The place is huge. Also, I don’t know why Blackbird closed. Spendy martini’smaybe? It looks really cool. Mabe it’s too far off the beaten path.

We love Angelina’s – my husband will be so sad.

Restaurants change ownership all the time and often times you will never know. Thanks to the WSB now we are often made aware of these changes. Just because a restaurant is for sale doesn’t mean that it is closing. I don’t think there is any reason to be sad just yet.

I used to go there a lot and Angelina’s is quite respectable, but nothing to write home about. They really don’t try to be great; just good. It’s a little run down and the plastic table cloths make it seem tacky. Plus if you look closely (e.g. at all the Chianti bottles and brick-a-brack), it’s a little dusty and dirty. Personally, I think they should edit all the stuff, clean the place up a bit, and “upscale” the overall look just a bit (without turning off families). E.g., they could offer crayons with white butcher paper on the tables. That would still be better than sticky plastic tablecloths with tears and holes). And maybe a few daily specials that are a little more interesting. And the idea of turning half of it into a lounge/wine bar is great because the place is huge and one of the reasons a lot of couples don’t go there is because there are often kids running around the whole place.

I like Angelina’s. It’s comfort food– nothing too fancy but plenty satisfying. I’ve only eaten there a few times; twice at dinner, once at brunch. They were all pleasant experiences. I think a wine bar in there is a great idea.

And boy do I miss the Blue Moon Burger at Blackbird.

Sorry, comment time is over.
