West Seattle scenes: 4 Halloween pix and non-holiday mystery art

johnnycashandspider.jpg

The first two pix are from tonight’s West Seattle Halloween highlights: First, a Johnny Cash pumpkin, plus a spider, thanks to Laura. Meantime, from 37th and Graham (map), an front-yard display sent by Emily, who says she and her husband love Halloween and add a bit more to the display daily (nightly?) during pre-Halloween week, and more pix can be found here:

Even more jack-o-lanterns and Halloween pix tomorrow (send yours!). By the way, we dropped by the scene of Skeleton Theatre tonight and will publish that video-enhanced report tomorrow, as they get ready for two big nights Friday and Saturday (more Halloween events here). Now, one more photo – Keith spotted this at 44th/Oregon in The Junction and wondered if anyone knows who/what this is supposed to be:

Co-publisher Patrick kicks off the guessing with “Stephen King?” But if you know for sure, or have a different guess, please enlighten! ADDED 10:54 PM: Just in, two pix from the annual Pathfinder K-8 pumpkin-carving celebration; Eric Baer reports about 150 participants, and sends these photos taken by Holly Rikhof:

Eric says there were about twice as many jack-o-lanterns as could be squeezed into that shot!

Emily’s place is a MUST on Halloween! She and her husband seriously bring the scary and love every minute of it!

There is another one like this that is a mustached boxed over by WellsFargo and Twilight Artist Collective on the pole as well.

They have an EXCELLENT display every year – beware though, I’ve seen lots of littler kids in tears b/c it was too scary! :-)

I am the owner of the house on 37th and Graham. Thank you all for the comments on our display. We have children of our own and we do have someone at the front of the display with candy for the little ones who will not go the door and get candy. All ages are welcome. We never would want to make the little ones cry.

Just so people know its not a haunted house style walk-through, its simply a yard display.

wow, the johnny cash pumpkin is pretty impressive.

We love the spooky yard at 37th & Graham. My daughter has reminded me about 50 times this week that we are visting your house again this year. We are at 42nd & Graham and love to decorate and have a spoody porch but don’t get many trick-or-treaters :(

Oops…spooky porch not spoody! Have a great Halloween everyone!

Here, here for the folks on 37th/Graham! I just walked by the house a bit ago and they were busy at work. :-) Makes our pale in comparison! D’oh!

The 44 & Oregon character looks like Dave Montoure (or however you spell his name) that owns West5

That face from 44 and Oregon is on a bunch of telephone poles on Cap Hill.

  • Jo October 31, 2008 (3:54 pm)

Is the ‘bearded telephone pole guy’ done by the same artist who was responsible for the ‘Grouchos’ that could be seen in the woods when eastbound on the WS bridge?
I miss the Grouchos, and still look for them every morning.

Sorry, comment time is over.
