West Seattle Crime Watch: Alerts from car-burglary victims

Two more car-burglary reports came in tonight, this time from car owners who want you to know what happened to them in the Beach Drive and Admiral areas:

First, from Jo in the 4100 block of Beach Drive (map):

I just wanted to let my friends and neighbors down here off Beach Drive know that my car was broken into and stereo stolen Saturday night. Sorry for the delay in getting the word out! I reside just around the corner from La Rustica, and my car was parked in our driveway and locked. Not a scratch on it, but stereo gone, but they left the car :) !! Everyone lock your cars and make a point of saying hello to people in the neighborhood you do not recognize.

This one’s from Nicole:

FYI- I reported this to the police. Sat AM (10/11) found my Honda Civic with the passenger side window broken and two front doors wide open in front of my house (near PCC in Admiral; map). Things were rummaged through ; however, the most notable is that they messed with my steering column – more than likely an attempt to steal the car.

I am so sorry this has happened. I remember once I got in my Mom’s Toyota and found they had messed with the drivers side lock and the ignition. The funny this was that the car was cranky when it was first started and wouldn’t go into second for a couple of blocks. So even if they had gotten the car started they probably wouldn’t have gotten very far. Hopefully this is the worse that happens to you and your car.

Sadly my car was broken into as well. I live on SW 100th in Arbor Heights, and I park my car on the street in front of my house. The passenger side widow was smashed and my car stereo/CD player was deftly removed. My glove box was rummaged through, and general disarray, but I couldn’t detect anything else missing. This happened two days ago – Monday eve/Tue morning

Sorry, comment time is over.
