“Conservation hero” vote update: Go, Judy (and EarthCorps)!

It’s not entirely clear how many days remain for voting in the Cox Conserves Heroes competition so we’re operating as if it could close at any time — just checked the results; Fauntleroy’s Judy Pickens is a VERY close second! If you or anyone you know hasn’t voted yet, vote now! Not just because of all the work Judy has done for helping bring Fauntleroy Creek back to life, but also because if she wins, EarthCorps gets $5K. Vote here. 9:02 PM UPDATE: Watch the comments – now a tie for first – keep it up! TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE: Just received word that the voting ends tomorrow (Wednesday 10/15) morning, 8 am.

Judy’s tied for first- let’s help her take the lead!

    Yay!
Thanks for all the local support! I am a Project Manager at EarthCorps and and live at the top of Fauntleroy Creek- on of my favorite parks in Seattle. So, admitedly I am totally biased but I truly believe that both Judy and EarthCorps are so deserving of recognition and the award. Both do amazing work in the community and are tirelessly devoted to urban parks.

Now she’s 1% ahead! I’ve emailed some friends and asked for their vote – Go Judy and Earthcorps – thanks for all you do!

As of 5:25 pm Judy is still one percentage point ahead! (She was two points ahead close to noon, when I previously checked.)

    .

I have a strong hunch that her doing so well, is yet another example of what this blog, and it’s participants have done on many other occasions, and that is they’ve had a very positive impact on the community. When I voted last week Judy was in last place by a huge amount of points.

    .

Way to go WSB and WSBers!

    .

    Mike

I’m disappointed with the Cox site… The voting results are displaying random values every time I reload the page. http://www.coxconserves.com/heroes/Results.aspx
The last time I looked Judy had 62% and Mike had 2% – that can’t possibly be right. I emailed the address listed on the FAQs page but haven’t received a response. What’s the point of asking the public to vote if the results are in question? Feels so familiar…

Oh dear — I saw Judy slipped a few points — and deadline is vote by 8 am Wednesday morning. Yikes! hope we can keep up the grassroots voting — it will be quite a challenge to be No. 1 — but truly — Judy deserves it and so does Earthcorps!

    thank you everyone

I think Marg may have a point. Early this afternoon Judy was suddenly way ahead – then I came back after being out a few hours, and suddenly she’s way behind. Weird. It’s been noted that a Redmond blog is campaigning for their local candidate but trust me (this isn’t a brag, it’s just a fact) WSB has exponentially more traffic than any other neighborhood news site in the metro area, so IF everybody who reads the site chooses to vote, we can do it! I can’t reach thru the screen and make ’em, though, much as I’d like to. Meantime, I’m putting this back atop the right sidebar AND scheduling one more reminder for 8 pm when it’s “12 hours to go” … BTW I got e-mail from somebody at Cox announcing the deadline, so I’m going to write her back about the weird result thing.

OK, it just happened to me too – At about 6:33, it said 25 percent Judy, 44 percent Mike Town. I refreshed once, no change. Four minutes later, I refreshed again – it says Judy 35 percent, Mike 20 percent. No way the voting sample is so small that it can swing that way.

  • WSB October 14, 2008 (7:22 pm)

44 percent Judy, 1 percent Mike, at 7:15 pm. Just documenting. And at 7:21, complete microsoft error screen of death …followed by Judy 44%, Mike 0%. Wow.

  • MargL October 14, 2008 (7:26 pm)

    Yeah – pretty fishy.
I do hope you hear back from the Cox folks. I never did. I thought about cc’ing WSB on my original email to them.
Bonnie gets credit for pointing it out on another board we post on. Thanks, Bonnie!

Sorry, comment time is over.
