Update: New Fauntleroy/Dawson signal powers up

fauntleroydawson.jpg

Thanks to Sean for that photo and the report that the new Fauntleroy/Dawson pedestrian signal (map) is just about ready for action, exactly a month after neighbors reported getting word the construction schedule had been moved way up – he says it was in “flashing yellow” mode when he went by. (We’ll check back on it in a few hours if we don’t get an update first.)

It’s been in that flashing yellow mode for about 24 hours now, although that didn’t seem to keep someone from running me down this morning. Hopefully they’ll get it fully up and running sometime today.

I’m hoping they put the stop sign back up on eastbound Dawson sometime soon – they’ve got a portable one down on the ground level, but a lot of people are blowing right through it. They did put an extra streetlight up too (on the SE corner) which will also improve visability).

Now only if they’d repave Fauntle-rut-roy. *sigh*

Typical procedure would have the signal in flash for a few days. The idea is that this will alert roadway users to the change. Then, likely on a weekday morning, the signal will go into standard operation.

Have fun stopping the Vashon traffic, Sue! ;)
