Neighboring business plans benefit for truck-damaged Jan’s Salon

truckvsstore.jpg

Remember this photo from three weeks ago, when that truck crashed into Jan’s Beauty Salon on California south of Morgan Junction? The salon reopened quickly, but its owner still has interior damage to take care of (and as we reported later that day, doesn’t have insurance for it), so neighboring Chill just announced a benefit this Sunday, 10 am-2 pm.

Cudos to chill for coming to jan’s aid…

i am unable to go to the benefit so i checked out crash chill gift certificates…

for a $100 massage certificate. they donate $25 to Jan..

That’s a great deal.. but since i can’t do massage.. not an option for me…

I don’t know if they have a donation jar set up for her.. but i will stop by and ask..

that way, those of us who don’t do massage can also do something for her…

Their website said that they welcome donations if you don’t want a massage – $10 and up, with 100% going to Jan. I will definitely stop by.

Just for a brief instant when I first entered the site, I thought, ‘oh no, it happened again!’ LOL (Sorry to laugh, but a moment of levity never hurts.)

I have this same model truck, just one year newer, same color and everything, so I have a start when I’ve seen this pic! Wasn’t me, tho. I do love my truck!

I THINK IT IS WONDERFUL THAT THE COMMUNITY IS HELPING JAN’S OUT BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON WHO RAN INTO HER SHOP, SHOULDN’T THEY OR THEIR INSURANCE BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE ?????

The earlier WSB article says Jan’s was “between insurers,” and comments imply that the driver did not have insurance.

Any clarifications by WSB regarding insurance status for parties to this incident would be appreciated.

    A recommendation:

If you are involved in a car accident that someone else caused, write down, take a picture of, or memorize license plate numbers of probable witnesses (vehicles behind your vehicle). Many witnesses will just drive away leaving you or your insurance company to pay for it.

we don’t have any additional info – we talked to Jan the day of the crash; have never had contact with the driver (don’t have his name, either) so I can’t shine any more info on that – TR

Chill is fabulous… great massage and really strong neighborhood commitment. Cool locally-made aromatherapy products, too. I definitely plan to stop by.

Hey, so glad to see WSB picked up our news, Thank you! We hope to see lots of our neighbors tomorrow. We will have a donation jar for those of you who don’t do massage, where you can leave a little note of encouragement for Jan and whatever you can afford to give. Again thank you so much for your support.

PS to answer some of the Insurance questions, Jan really was “between Insurers” and the guy that slammed through the building – uninsured. How’s that for luck?

Sorry, comment time is over.
