Saw the sign this morning – now here’s the full alert from the city Transportation Department, plus a few other downtown changes for the weekend that you might want to know about:

Drivers should plan for closures on several downtown streets
this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Saint Patrick’s
Day Dash.

Fourth Avenue will close at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday for the parade.
Traffic on Fourth (one-way northbound) will be detoured onto Prefontaine
Place South and then onto Third Avenue. The parade will start at 12:30
p.m. and will last about one hour. The parade will start at Fourth and
James Street, proceed north on Fourth to Westlake Park, and disperse
eastbound on Pine at Fourth.

The parade participants will line up for the parade tomorrow starting
at 10 a.m. in the western curb lane of Fourth between South Washington
and James Street, on Dilling Way between Fourth and Yesler Way, and in
the Courthouse Park.

On Sunday, the northbound Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed for the
St. Patrick’s Day Dash from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.. The race will start
at 9 a.m. beginning on Mercer Street next to the Seattle Center,
continue on Ninth Avenue to Republican, and then on SR99 and the Alaskan
Way Viaduct, exiting at South King Street to First Avenue South, and
finish by Safeco Field.

Streets in Pioneer Square will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday
morning for the Post Dash Bash. Occidental Avenue South will be closed
between Railroad Way South and South Jackson Street, and King Street
will be closed between First Avenue South and Second Avenue South.

And of course, don’t forget the Viaduct inspection closures are coming up NEXT weekend — 6 am-6 pm Saturday 3/22 and same time period Sunday 3/23 — with the Battery Street Tunnel to be closed for the entire weekend, 6 am 3/22 till 6 pm 3/23.
