What’s fresh at West Seattle Farmers’ Market today

Just a few days after we broke the news that the West Seattle Farmers’ Market is going year-round, immediately – it’s time for another market day; here’s the “fresh sheet”:

FEATURED FROM LOCAL FARMS THIS WEEK:

Potatoes: Yukon Golds, Yellow Finn, German Butterball, Red Lasoda, All Blue, Fingerlings, Russet

AVAILABLE EVERY WEEK:

Excellent selection of local cheeses: Cow, sheep and goat cheeses. Goudas, Cheddars, Fresh Mozzarella, Brie, Pecorino, Parmesan, Provolone, Semi-soft blue, Aged and Raw Mild varieties. There are so many cheeses to sample and choose from this time of year…

GREENS: Mixed fresh and braising greens. Plus individual bunches: Spinach, Arugula, Mustard Greens, Collards

Goat Meat: All cuts, riblets, Leg of goat and Ground goat meat – at UD and WS

Wooly Pigs Pork: Chops, Shoulder Roast, Ham Slices, Belly and Rib strips

Beef: Samish Bay Cheese (Bow, WA) has 100% organically raised beef and pork. The pigs are fed cheese whey as part of their diet.

Olsen Farms is bringing all cuts of beef from grass fed Angus cows in Colville .

FISH: Wild Salmon: Smoked and frozen Sockeye, KING and Coho. Also Lox, Jerky, Salmon sausage and patties, Chum Caviar, Pickled Salmon

PATE’: Pate de Foie (chicken, pork and calf liver with red wine, cream and garlic. Also chicken livers simmered in butter and cognac). At UD and WS.

EGGS: Lovingly collected every morning from organically fed, run-around-the-barnyard local chickens and ducks. Growing Things, Rickman Gulch Farm, Stokesberry Farm. At all markets.

    The goat meat was especially fresh today, as there were 3 live goats at the goat meat counter. Very cute! And, ultimately, doomed!

    Bernicki, Wow, I guess I arrived too late to see the goats! I’m glad I also didn’t see the fuzzy little lamb that provided the nice looking leg I’m about to stick in the oven. :)
