Final public meeting set for Morgan Junction park design

Thanks to Cindi Barker from the Morgan Community Association for forwarding first word that the final public meeting for the Morgan Junction park design is set — 7 pm March 12 at The Kenney. (The design options shown at the meeting last month can be seen here.)

One of the next phases will be for the community to suggest a name to Parks & Rec. Should we begin that process now – here?

Let me be the first to propose both tongue-in-cheek and in serious honor of what was once possible and might be again in the future: Monorail Memorial Park. I’ll further provide a second nomination which would have been the formal nickname of the Morgan Junction Station had the Green Line been built: Sunset Station, because from the upper platform at the station, you would have been able to see the sun set over the Olympics. It would have been a glorious view and less than three people on the hill above and across the street would have had their views obstructed. Another view win for the people. Sunset Park.

Chas, sorry to say, you’re not the first. I probably wasn’t either, but I did use that name here in late 2006:
