Busy day (and night) for West Seattle High School

-WSHS has an open house this morning, with school tours offered 7:30-9 am.

As reported here last Sunday, the group that’s trying to overturn the plan for WSHS to switch to a 6-period day next year plans a student march this afternoon, starting at 2:30 and heading from WSHS to The Junction.

-The WSHS Winter Concert is in the theater tonight at 7 pm, with the band and choir performing.

It’s really a shame that the WSHS administration hasn’t stepped up and tried to make this transition easier for the students and the school. True, the admin. is caught inbetween (isn’t that always the case with the admin?), but our students and our community deserve positive support and a clear message of where WSHS is going and they aren’t getting it!
Word on the street, especially from Middle School families, is if the WSHS administration cannot show leadership and help publically support the change that has been decided on by the district (and that is already being implemented), then who wants to send their kids to a school that is in such a mess?
Just read the WS blogs- there are actually threats of beatings from both teachers and students for anyone who supports the change to the 6 period day. Pathetic!

Saw the student group pass by about 20 minutes ago — only looked to be about 15 of them.
