Commute alert: Downtown bus tunnel closed again

Because of “continuing problems with the computer system,” according to the alert. Metro’s got the latest (and alternate bus info) here.

To Err is Human, to really screw up you need a computer. I realize the tunnel system is complicated, but couldn’t there be some manual backup scheme?

Doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about the operations of Link once it gets finished. Why don’t we just make 3rd Avenue bus only permanently and get the downtown street patterns set rather than this constant back-and-forth?

3rd Ave is permanently a bus zone now, but only during certain hours. Perhaps Chas means bus permanent 24/7? That I would agree with!

Yes, I meant 24/7. That way everyone can develop new patterns and Metro won’t get quite as screwed up each time the tunnel closes. What’re they going to do when it’s open to 1 am?

Sorry, comment time is over.
