The view from Jefferson Square

2 things noted on a pass through Jefferson Square‘s northwest corners: first, West Seattle’s sixth not-in-a-grocery-store Starbucks (first mentioned here in August) is progressing rapidly in the ex-Infinity Espresso spot:

Second, looks like some progress on the Junction Plaza Park site, with the green-gray of spray-on grass, just in time for the holidays:

Yeah, I noticed the Starbucks when I was at the “lifestyle” Safeway yesterday. They even have the logo branded on the pole outside the complex in front of Subway. And does that pole have a new “Jefferson Square” logo? It has green lettering now and I don’t remember that being there.

gotta love that sprayed on grass…it’s soooo attractive. I hope this little patch of land gets truly upgraded soon..it’s been an eyesore for as long as I can remember….really detracts from our main business area…

I just hope that when the new SBUX opens, the one inside the Safeway closes.
I’ve never had a decent cup of joe there, and Lord knows Safeway could better utilize the space.

I hope that Safeway goes away. That parking lot is RIDICULOUS. Can’t see how SBUX will work there, I guess they are thinking they will get traffic from junction shoppers and the apartments? Who would drive there (esp with the old Ranier Roaster site pulling people in like crazy).

if you’re going to get coffee inside a supermarket, ya get what ya get.

What is this “Starbucks” you speak of?

I’m not sure why Starbucks decided to open yet another store in West Seattle. I guess there was a void between the one in Morgan Junction, Admiral, and the 35th & Fauntleroy location.

I spoke to the manager, and she said that the store will be opening on November 9th. So mark your calendars.

I kind of like the Safeway there.
After the remodel, it’seems like they have more stuff and the lines move a lot faster.
Truly, the parking lot is a mess.
If I drive, I park out on the street, or more often, I just walk to the store.
Can’t say about the SBUX, they seem to make it werever they go.
It’s better than a barroom on every corner, IMO.

Ha ha ha, “lifestyle Safeway” is a hilarious term for that one. I encountered some of the people living that lifestyle; two completely drunk girls purchasing chicken wings and chips. When I wondered aloud if they needed a cab, the checker told me, “It’s okay, they live upstairs.”

I avoid that parking lot too. I’ve seen near-fistfights break out over parking spaces and perceived right-of-way violations. It’s as if pulling into the Jefferson Square lot instantly transforms drivers into territorial dickheads.
On the brighter side, there’s another Starbucks in West Seattle! Hooray!

Anyone remember the Simpsons episode where Bart comes out of a Starbucks in the mall, and while in there, all the other stores in the mall have been converted to Starbucks?

Reminds me of this. Although, there was a bit of a Starbucks void – I mean, there’s a whole parking lot inbetween them. Maybe they can fix up the void this creates by putting another Starbucks in the middle of the parking lot.

Sorry, comment time is over.
