Out of luck?

fixbump.JPGYou are, if you expect the ravaged roadway of Sylvan/Orchard (east of High Point and home to the sign at left) to be all good as new once the upcoming closure is through. Nope, just a short stretch, reiterates the project spokesperson in today’s Herald.

The really badly “humped” part (with the manhole covers and their attendant asphalt molehills) are not by the Highpoint redevelopment but are by the private construction site. It was also the heavy equipment associated with that site which messed up the roadway.

Bugger! I drive that every day to get to work.

I listed this on the “Dirty Dozen” a year ago and complained at the City’s pothole site a while back. Does the City have a comment on this? If the Mayor would like driving directions to travel this stretch to see for himself, I will gladly provide them. It is getting doen right dangerous to drive.

I remember comments many years ago about the poor soil stability on that stretch of road. It’s been very prone to ‘slippage’ and crumbling pavement for the 30+ years I’ve lived here.
They no sooner get it smoothed out and then after a typical wet winter, the whole thing has moved around, opening cracks which lead to further deterioration.

I wonder how they keep the pipes under those manholes from ripping apart.

Sorry, comment time is over.
