Home Security Recommendations?

My wife and I are considering a home security system. I’ve been doing research on all the major player (or most anyhow); ADT, Frontpoint, Xfinity, etc. and at the end of all my research I’ve come away with “they all suck”. :)

I’m curious to hear more local experience/reviews with some of these systems from the community. Any thoughts, suggestions, etc.? Thanks everyone.

Hi There,
I recommend going for a DIY or OpenSource Security option. Myself and friends of mine are currently using solutions like iSmartAlarm and Simplisafe, and are very happy with them. The biggest benefit is that there are no monthly fees, you just purchase the equipment, which is usually under $500. You monitor the systems yourself using a smartphone and your home wifi. Many of the systems allow you to customize your system by adding cameras and additional sensors and gadgets.
