SunuvaParticipantOur beloved old cat passed away this weekend. We are not planning to get another cat any time soon so I have the following items to give away. Our cat did not have any known diseases and was up-to-date on her shots.
Dry Food – A 7lb bag of IAMS Lively Senior – Was just opened a couple days ago.
Wet Food – Several cans of Sheba Pate
Litter Box with Hood – This was just purchased last week and was only used a couple of times.
Litter Box Liners
Litter Mat – Also purchased just last week
Several Food and Water Bowls
Catnip and TreatsPlease contact me at stronghealthyparent@outlook.com if interested. I would prefer if somebody can take all the items at once.

luvmycatsParticipantYou can give the can food to the WS Food Bank or the WC Food Bank and maybe the other un-used items there too.
And I am sorry for the loss of your KITTY

KatherineLParticipantMuch sympathy for the loss of you beloved cat. I know how hard it is to lose them, especially when they’ve been with you for so long. I honor you for wanting to give the items to someone.
However, if I might make a suggestion…don’t make decisions while grieving. A home that’s used to a cat in it can feel awfully empty without one. You could fall in love again.

SunuvaParticipantThank you, KatherineL. It certainly does feel empty around here now. It was just a few days ago that I was yelling at her for waking me up at 5am with loud meowing, and now I just wish I could hear her meow again. Cleaning up and giving away her items is especially difficult but it would seem like such a waste to throw it away.
I understand and totally agree with your suggestion about not making decisions when grieving, however, this was a decision we came to a while back as we knew her time was short since she was 17 years old. We decided we would not get any new pets until our daughter is old enough to participate in choosing and caring for the new pet. The real possibility now is breaking down on that decision because we miss our dear old friend. Thanks very much for your concern.September 21, 2016 at 5:10 pm #858453
SunuvaParticipantThank you, luvmycats. I will take the canned food to the food bank tomorrow. I have some other food that I can also take with it. I really appreciate the suggestion.

WSBKeymasterI am sorry about your cat. Ours is ~16 (adopted at 5) and I cherish every day, knowing there are not likely many left. Hope you are able to take some time to grieve.- TR

SueParticipantSunuva, my condolences on the loss of your beloved kitty.
If you still have any of the items, you can always get in touch with Furry Faces Foundation (F3) at furryfaces@hotmail.com . They are a local organization that helps out pet owners in need, and I’ve donated things to them in the past so they can pass it on.

SunuvaParticipantSince I got a few responses and a couple emails about this, I thought I’d let you all know that I have found a place to store the non-perishable items long term. I also kept her tags and other things for preserving her memory. I think it sounded in my post as if I was giving away ALL of her stuff, but I had planned to keep some things to remember her by. Don’t Worry! Now I’ve found a way to keep even more. The food is in my truck to be donated next time I’m near the food bank too. Thanks for all the responses!
