Easy Street Records – Free & All Ages

Author Gillian G. Gaar will be signing copies of the new book she co-authored with Mike McInnerney and Bill DeMain, Sgt. Pepper at Fifty: The Mood, the Look, the Sound, the Legacy of the Beatles’ Great Masterpiece June 28th at Easy Street! The 6:30 pm signing will be followed by an in-store performance by Beatles tribute band Creme Tangerine at 7:30 pm. Featuring contributions from leading authorities on the Beatles’ music, Sgt. Pepper at Fifty provides an in-depth critique of the album, by looking at the unique cultural circumstances that led to its creation; examining the rich assemblage of influences that informed its sound; exploring the landmark cover art, which continues to inspire debate and intrigue; and assessing the record’s enduring legacy as the pinnacle of British pop.

Gillian G. Gaar has written for numerous publications, including Mojo, Rolling Stone, and Goldmine. She was a senior editor at The Rocket, before, during, and after “grunge.” Her previous books include She’s A Rebel: The History of Women in Rock & Roll, Entertain Us: The Rise of Nirvana, Return of the King: Elvis Presley’s Great Comeback, Green Day: Rebels With a Cause, and The Doors: The Illustrated History. Her next book, Hendrix: The Illustrated Story will be published in the fall of 2017.

Creme Tangerine is a dynamic five piece band from Seattle that performs the music of The Beatles for thousands each year. Rather than focusing on the personalities or look of The Beatles, Creme Tangerine focuses on performing their beloved music live for all to enjoy. Their performances have included The Beatles most recognized hits as well as different eras of the Beatles music and “the White Album” and Abbey Road in their entireties. Their high energy, quality performances appeal to those already familiar with and new to the music of The Beatles.
