Summer “Movies on the Wall” in The Junction – the finalists!

moviesonwall.jpg

You sent in your suggestion(s) via our special page here on WSB or via ballot boxes in local businesses — now organizer Lora Lewis from Hotwire Coffee (WSB sponsor) has unveiled the list of finalists from which the “Movies on the Wall” outdoor-film lineup in July and August will be chosen. Read on, then leave a comment about which ones you’d most like to see:

Curious George G
Willy Wonka (1971) G
Finding Nemo G
Three Amigos! PG
The Money Pit PG
Uncle Buck PG
Ghostbusters PG
16 Candles PG
The Goonies PG
Who Framed Roger Rabbit PG
Secondhand Lions PG
Galaxy Quest PG
Batman (1966) PG
The Sandlot PG
Raising Arizona PG-13
Hitch PG-13
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) PG-13
Jurassic Park PG-13
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off PG-13

Reminder that the movie for opening night, July 12th, is already set — “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” (repeatedly rained out last year) — but that leaves five more Saturday nights for movies to be chosen from this list.

You know, for the most part I would agree with that list with one exception, somehow I would include “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. Talk about the ultimate “skip day” movie. :)

  • WSB May 28, 2008 (11:24 am)

Not an exact science here … I haven’t seen all the votes myself but I know from communicating with Lora that there are other factors that come into play too such as movie availability and display rights – TR

  • Hamilton May 28, 2008 (11:24 am)

I’m so flustered about Muppets I totally forgot to add Charlie Bucket to my list! :D

  • Hamilton May 28, 2008 (11:25 am)

Thanks for wiping my tears, WSB. :D

Don’t worry, I’ll still show up no matter what movies are playing…

    I’m ready for summer!

  • dan May 28, 2008 (11:59 am)

From one who has seen the votes, there were MANY ballots received from the community boxes and this list represents the popularity of the choices listed. Pretty basic for the most part… how many voted for each. The other additional factor is that the sponsors of the movies this Summer also get some input on which they’d prefer to show out of the list that was selected.

  • PG May 28, 2008 (3:22 pm)

Has there been any thought to having one movie targeted to singles, or couples without children, or couples with children and babysitters? I am all for the family events, but it might be nice to have just one with adults.
