West Seattle Weekend Lineup, Sustainable WS Festival edition

Another “first” this weekend in The Junction — the first Sustainable West Seattle Festival, 10 am-3 pm Sunday in the Wells Fargo parking lot. We’ll be there on behalf of West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day (which is really just a different way to recycle!) – stop by and say hi! – but more importantly, it’s a chance to find out about an amazing lineup of local organizations working on small-step solutions to some of today’s biggest problems. Great!
It’s good to see we’re having a Sustainable West Seattle Festival! I’m planning to attend the transit forum tomorrow at Arts West. With so much property being developed into densely populated condos or apartments, it’s even more important to discuss transit and other transportation issues.
    .
In West Seattle, I’d like to see a transit station consisting of restrooms, heating, seating, and perhaps a coffee shop and small ‘postage stamp’ park. Standing and waiting for a bus in the cold, wet weather while vehicles are loudly barrelling past us is NO picnic. Burien Town Square will be an example of TOD –transit-oriented development. People living in or near that town square may not even use a car.
    .
We really should have better and more frequent transit service/infrastructure here — especially when the Viaduct goes down!

Sorry, comment time is over.
