The White Center Food Bank (which serves part of southern West Seattle, too) has issued a unique “call for artists” – decorate a chair to be auctioned at WCFB’s upcoming Harvest Dinner/Auction. Think you might be able to help? Read on!
Here’s the official announcement:
A CALL FOR ARTISTS – DECORATE A CHAIR FOR A GOOD CAUSE
The “HAVE A SEAT AT THE TABLE” ProjectThe White Center Food Bank is having its Fifth Annual Harvest Dinner
and Auction on October 17 at the Jerry Brockey Center on the SSCC
campus. In addition to dinner and the auction there will be live
entertainment. There will be a separate auction of decorated chairs.
Each chair will be one-of-a-kind, uniquely decorated by the artist,
and donated to the WCFB for auction. At the Harvest Dinner we hope to
have one chair located at each table. The White Center Food Bank has been providing emergency food to the
needy for 30 years. Even though more than 30% of its clients are
Seattle residents, WCFB receives no financial support from the city
because White Center is an unincorporated area of King County. WCFB
serves more than 6,000 people per month many of whom are children,
the elderly and the disabled.Contact Lynne Ingalls at btrees@comcast.net if you are interested in
decorating a chair or donating a chair for others to decorate, and
for further details. A decorated chair can be completed as late as
Saturday, October 10th. A few chairs that are free to the artists may
yet be available or you may obtain one on your own.Help us help others.
