Skillet Street Food in West Seattle: At Seattle Lutheran tomorrow

UPDATE – If you’re looking at this on Sunday, we’ve got a short update in our Sustainable West Seattle Festival running coverage – see that here

Update on the Skillet saga: Bil Hood at Seattle Lutheran High School just told WSB that the school will let Skillet Street Food try their parking lot (on the northeast edge of The Junction, 41st and Genesee; map) tomorrow, and Skillet’s agreed. If you’re just joining this saga now – Skillet takes its Airstream trailer to neighborhoods around the city to cook, sell and serve semi-gourmet food, and announced a few weeks back that it wanted to come to West Seattle for a few hours on Sundays. A parking spot near the West Seattle Farmers’ Market was announced, then rescinded. Skillet wound up making its West Seattle debut in the courtyard near Hotwire Coffee (WSB sponsor) last Sunday, with what proprietor Josh Henderson described as its most successful opening day ever; then on Thursday, Hotwire’s Lora Lewis announced that her landlord had rescinded permission for Skillet to be there. SLHS then made contact with Skillet, and they’ve agreed to give it a try tomorrow. One important note from SLHS: You won’t be able to park IN the lot – so walk up as a side trip from your Sunday visit to the rest of The Junction, where the Sustainable West Seattle Festival will be under way 10 am-3 pm tomorrow in addition to the Farmers’ Market 10 am-2 pm.

NICE! That’s even closer to my house than Hotwire! Hopefully the residents won’t complain and get kicked out again! Tasty burger here I come!

If anyone is overly concerned about wait times, Skillet Street Food’s website has the ability to pre-order your food. I’ve never done it, but it says that all you need to do is tell them when you’ll be there and you can just walk right up to the window.

I’m debating whether I need to trudge out for some of their awesome poutine tomorrow. Also, while it wasn’t on the menu board last time I went, you can order a burger with poutine instead of the plain fries for a few extra bux.

May I ask what is poutine? :)

hmm. Just far enough outside of WSJA’s reach. Way to drop the ball WSJA.

Way to go SLHS!! Hmm..too bad the weather is gonna be rainy..it’s be a great co-op opportunity for the school to do a fund-raising car wash kinda thing. Maybe something to consider for the future.

and, yup, Growl…looks like the WSJA really blew it. Oh well..GREAT opportunity for the Church to raise some awareness for themselves, and for being a great neighbor!!!!

Can’t wait for my burger (or whatever other tasty thing they might intrigue me with!!)

I’m not so sure the weather will be rainy. Today’s didn’t turn out to be anything like the forecast. Maybe it’s just because we’ve been looking forward to the Sustainable West Seattle Festival, but I’ve been looking forward to tomorrow :) festival’s on rain or shine … TR

That is cool it is back up and running, its just to bad its far from the shopping and now i dont have anywere to get a tasty beverage. Why couldnt the WSJA get it closer, it was killer by hotwire, start off at the farmers market and loop up around to get food and coffee and walk back to the car. Atleast Skillet is back!

Sorry, comment time is over.
