Sudden snag for Skillet: West Seattle spot falls through

Just last night we checked with Josh Henderson of Skillet Street Food to make sure they were still on for their West Seattle debut this Sunday, and at the time it looked like all systems were go. Then tonight, he sent this note:

We just got word from Diamond Parking that the lot that we were supposed to be in on sunday in the Key Bank parking lot, is not a possibility any more.

So…at this point we are looking for a spot…and will put the word out..

If you have a suggestion, there’s contact info on the Skillet website.

Sent a note about the Post Office parking lot. Or the area right behind WAMA (Chase). Or next to JF Henry.

would love to know Diamond’s reasons why not?

    I’m with JanS, Why not??

If it’s Diamond then it must be a junction lot, and they all (the junction businesses) pay to maintain those lots. In which case some other restaurant probably objected. Maybe the Morgan Junction would be more receptive.

This came in way too late for me to investigate further tonight (not because we’re not working but because people aren’t reachable at this hour) but it’s on the docket for first thing tomorrow … TR

What about Westwood? The back parking lot area near Bed Bath and Beyond. Isn’t that where the Xmas trees are on sale? I always thought that area needed something.

Great idea LyndaB !! That back lot is so under utilized.

OH man am I disappointed! I was going to show up at the market this week just for skillet!

I may be wrong about this, but I think that Skillet wants to cash in on the Farmer’s Market shoppers…kind of combining the two events, so while these other places are under utilized, there are less people around, too.

I was totally ready to walk to the farmer’s market and pick up some bacon jam to take to a BBQ this Sunday. I hope they find a new, nearby location (or work it out with Diamond).

Here’s the corporate number for Diamond: 284-3100.

Perhaps they just need a few nagging phone calls for them to change their mind. I can’t call right now, but will later. Let’s make this happen, people! WSB power!!

I just sent emails to Key Bank investor relations and Diamond Parking letting them know they blew it.

  • WSB April 24, 2009 (11:59 am)

We left a message for Diamond Parking management a couple hours ago, no callback yet.

  • rockergirl April 24, 2009 (12:03 pm)

Hey Max – post there email addresses so we can all let them know how much we want this to happen.
    Bet they’d love that.
