LOTS OF LEAVES? Extra yard waste will be picked up for free this month

Leaves, branches, whatever you’re cleaning up so it can be picked up, Seattle Public Utilities says you can set out extra bags/containers of yard waste throughout November … free, with a few rules that you can see here. Main goal: Keeping storm drains clear of leaves, to minimize flooding risk during heavy rain.

Does SPU normally charge to pick up extra yard waste?  I haven’t seen that on my bill before.  I can’t find out any information about extra charges on the SPU website.  Thanks, WSB!

Thank you, SPU! I remember when they used to offer this about 10 years back and I lamented when it quietly went away.

I’ve been nailed for extra yard waste in the past when I waited until most of the leaves were down and put all bags out at once. It ticked me off since my yard waste container isn’t even half full most of the year. Today’s announcement is great news.

Sorry, comment time is over.
