Update: Tree hits car on Beach Drive north of Lowman

ORIGINAL REPORT, 7:01 AM: Overnight crashes often involve cars hitting trees. This morning, we have a report of things happening the other way around – on Beach Drive north of Lowman Beach Park, Mark reports (while sharing the photo above), a tree has fallen onto a parked car. Police have been called. We’ll head downhill to check it out too, given the potential traffic problem if it’s not out of the way soon.

8 AM UPDATE: Beach Drive northbound is blocked just north of the three-way intersection by Lowman while crews work to remove the tree – this photo is from WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand:

No injuries reported.

  1. After spending most of last evening preparing for our big St. Patty’s day blast…I was awoken to the sound of chainsaws. Now the comment I made to hubby was “Guess someone doesn’t know they shouldn’t use power tools before 9:00 a.m.?!”
Shortly after, Sister-in-law calls to say “is that YOUR van that was hit by a tree?!”
Needless to say, now I know why they were using a chainsaw before 9:00 a.m. (thank you crew for making the street safe)
    And yes…it is my van.

Calling the insurance agent was not in my plan, today …but hey…at least no one was hurt and I wasn’t IN it! Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone!!

  4. The tree was an irish elm. After a long night of early celibrations, drinks, boists, and dares, the tree said “this is payback b*tches”, and attacked the cars.
The other partiers rattled their branches in approval.
