West Seattle Crime Watch: ‘Drop that package!’; break-in attempt

Two West Seattle Crime Watch reports out of the WSB inbox tonight. First one is about a truck-trailing package thief; second a quick note about an attempted break-in. Read on:

First, from someone who asked to be anonymous:

Just a heads up about package thefts: My neighbor was working in her yard today (January 17) when UPS delivered a package to our front door. She heard the gate open just a minute later, and looked up to see a woman leaving our front yard carrying the package that was just delivered!

My neighbor yelled at the thief to drop the package, which she did and then took off running. My neighbor called 911 and filed a police report. I live on 35th Avenue SW near SW Spokane Street [map]. Thankfully we have a noisy gate latch and a very good neighbor!

And from Nicole:

I just wanted to report a prowler … We live on 32nd and Thistle [map] and someone tried to use a crow bar to break in to our garage last night. We reported it the police. Scary stuff.

P.S. Another reminder that all are welcome at the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting tomorrow night (here’s our preview).

That neighbor must be a state farm agent.
