If the man had a knife we sure know how it would end! But he just has a gun so…

Thanks for keeping us informed! I’m glad I’m not working from home today.

I’m gonna put on my TR hat and remind everyone that on 8-15-10, there was a shots fired, with police response right near that location, ref’d WSB article is here:
http://westseattleblog.com/2010/08/west-seattle-crime-watch-shots-reported-on-alki-no-one-hit
Alki is a crazy place in the summer, but usually it is attributed to gang banging visitors from elsewhere…this may be a bit more homegrown hooliganism…
***Quick reminder, WA is an open carry state, so unless this guy was brandishing and threatening someone with this ‘alleged’ firearm, it would likely be a non-issue….***

@ HolyKow. What’s the difference between gang banging visitors and homegrown hooliganism if they’re both carrying guns?
Comment by Spikele — 1:15 pm September 3, 2010 #
Well, obviously the visitors had to come all the way from somewhere else to make trouble, whereas the homegrown’s just came to make trouble.
See the difference?
I didn’t think so…

I was walking along the sidewalk and saw all the cars already there. I didn’t see the cops and no barriers. it was jarring to happen upon that scene and the workmen on that block seemed unsure as well.
Comment by newnative — 1:28 pm September 3, 2010 #
I’d rather the homegrown hooligans myself.
Comment by casey — 1:54 pm September 3, 2010 #
Okay, I know this isn’t a laughing matter but since I saw this post I can’t get this out of my head.

theres a man with a gun over there
tellin me i got to beware.

With little to no cops in west Seattle you ate free to do whatever. Look at the past year
Comment by Barry — 2:42 pm September 3, 2010 #
Barry, why are you disparaging the size of our officers? Little officers can be just as effective as big ones.
Comment by Eric B — 5:23 pm September 3, 2010 #
I live on Admiral Way near 63rd. Right now Admiral Way is closed off between 59th and 62nd with many police cars and firetrucks in the area. There is a Kiro-TV news van as well. Some bystanders told me there was a shooting — at least 5 shots heard — at around 9pm.
Comment by Cory — 9:51 pm September 3, 2010 #
Cory, we are covering that story separately and have been doing so since 9 pm, please look at the top of the page.
