March 15, 2010 at 5:43 pm | In West Seattle news, WS beverages | 8 CommentsQuick update on the state liquor store opening in part of the former Famous Footwear space in Westwood Village: Passing through WV just now, we saw center manager Stuart Crandall, asked him if a date was set yet, and he replied, “March 26,” adding that the sign is scheduled to go up tomorrow. This store is meant to replace the one that closed a year and a half ago in Morgan Junction.

HA!! My husband was just whining the other day about the Morgan Junction Liquor Store closing down… (Yes, he is STILL affected by that..) How excited he will be that a new one is within WALKING distance to our house… Yay alcohol!!!

LMAO@LiquorLover.
I just hope they have as good of a selection of tequilas as the 4th Ave. store. Then again, ALL liquor stores would have better selections if they weren’t controlled by the state.

It’s amazing that our politicians — no matter what party — insist on keeping the state in the liquor business. Maybe I’m missing something, but I just don’t see the publc clamoring for state-run liquor stores.

I really wish I could invest in an enterprise such as a liquor store so conveniently located near a deprived socio-economic region. I would retire young! God Bless our State for cornering the market on this one!

Someone has to sell liquor, no matter what neighborhood it’s in. It does seem awfully outdated for the state to control it though. You’d think it would be good for the state to give up the costs of running it and just to sit back and enjoy the taxes from it. And that would certainly be good for the consumer (more choices, stores tailored to the local tastes). Eventually.
