transplantellaParticipantSo after being here for 4 years and reading the neverending raves about Zippy’s burgers we made our first visit this evening. I doubt there will be a second.
I don’t understand the accolades.
The onion rings were mediocre, hard and crunchy, but to their credit at least they weren’t frozen. The burger was tough and gristly, lots of pieces of sizeable hard sinew I found inedible. Mr. Transplantella reported the same from his burger. I only ate half my burger, I was not enticed to finish it.
The quality of the meat really was quite poor.
The fries were ok.
Nothing about the food was very good. I’m not understanding the Zippy’s love around here. I don’t share it.
Plenty of better food than that to be found in White Center. And I’ve had plenty of better burgers too.

pattileaParticipantI am surprised, I would have sent it back. My husband is a burger snob, and he loves that place. We have never had bad food there. I love the sweet potato fries. I am sorry for your experience and hope that you do give them a second chance. I would love for them to read your review, perhaps you should send it to them. I know if I owned a restaurant, that is known for good food, I would love to hear from folks like you so that I can only make improvements.

dhgParticipantIt is made from real cow and not over processed like the McDonald stuff that doesn’t require teeth.

I’ve eaten burgers all over the world, so I am no stranger to different qualities of beef processing, cooking methods, and burger styling.
And I stand by my statement that the quality of the meat was very poor.
In comparison, I can highly recommend the cheeseburger at the Starlite Diner at the Mayakovskaya Metro in Moscow Russia. Russia is generally not celebrated for it’s fab burgers and Russian beef is….pretty substandard stuff. But the Starlite is much better than Zippy’s. Open 24 hours too.

pattileaParticipantMy favorite world burger was in Buenos aires, Argentina. Best beef, I have ever had!

maplesyrupParticipantMy first experience with Zippy’s was kind of meh too. I think it was an unlucky experience because ever since then it’s been really good. I don’t know about “best burger ever” but definitely worth going back.
Perhaps the problem was that your expectations were too high. People oversold you on the experience so you were underwhelmed when you actually tried it.

JoBParticipantall i can tell you is that telling Blaine that you had poor quality meat would have been a lot more productive than bad mouthing them here.
i didn’t make Zippy’s opening day because they ran out of meat before i got there..
but i have been eating there regularly since then and have yet to ever have a less than stellar piece of meat there.
and i routinely order one of the cheapest burgers on the menu

jshowMemberTry them again. They grind their own burger and I love Zippy’s because they are passionate about their burgers. Every place has an off day. I have never had a bad burger there, love their Bacon cheese Lil Zip!

dhgParticipantI do like their Mama Lil’s Burger (NO. 11) but I’ve recently tried a burger at Skillet and at the Swinery. I have to say, Swinery wins
