We need help weeding our yard. We had quite a bit of landscaping done last year and don’t need someone that skilled. We do need folks with some experience who we can walk through and go over intentional plantings vs. “free-range pansies”, etc. Would love to hire someone living in West Seattle if possible. Recommendations?

try going to Nickelsville and recruiting some help. They are more than willing. I know of one poster on here who has used them, and been greatly satisfied.

i would be happy to recommend a couple of very careful weeders from nickelsville

i will be using them again this week at my house

it seems the weeds really take that live long and prosper think to heart

Whenever I need weeding done, I always call Al Semple (“Al the Yard Guy”). He’s thorough, reasonably priced, and very trustworthy. You can reach him at almco@aol.com.

Thanks for the ideas – we’re trying to connect with Al.

Since we are hoping to find someone who after an initial weed annihilation/mulching could be on a monthly contract to keep things from getting so out of control again, I’m not sure the Nickelsville option works for our current needs. But we are still talking to folks so any other ideas welcome.

And JoB – I think you’re absolutely right about weeds taking the ‘live long and prosper’ bit to heart. Do you think they’d behave better if they knew we were trekkies? ; )

at my house i think they just think they have squatting rights..

after all, they were here first.

i will say that in the areas where i had them spread preen and barkdust.. around carefully protected perennial evergreen plantings.. the weeds aren’t as invasive… but they aren’t gone either.

this is the second weeded year for most of those areas… maybe next year?

i have been using a small crew from Nickeslville since last may. they have dug and installed new beds and regularly attend to my weeding and lawn maint…

i will admit, that with a notable exception or two, i am not using the same guys this year as i used last..

but that is because most of them have moved on to better jobs.

it has been a good fit for me, but i can see why it might not work for everyone.
