These guys are more akin to Occupy Wall Street than anything else. Taking up public space to make a point.
Don’t get me wrong, I think they are nuts. That said, they are not terrorists……

metrognomeParticipantIt’s interesting that at least some ‘news’ outlets are not referring to them as ‘militia’ as it gives them a level of credibility that they don’t deserve.
as their ‘leader,’ Ammon Bundy, is quoted in the Seattle Times as saying he is taking directions from God, who is apparently taking time off from watching sports, let’s call them by their complete name … armed white Christian domestic terrorists.
and, ya gotta give the feds a little credit here; armed confrontation would only give the thugs more airtime. By leaving them alone, the feds are deflating them quite quickly; the group is already being disowned by ‘real militia’ groups.
Without commenting one way or the other on BLM, one difference here is that civilians and businesses aren’t at risk here; if the domestic terrorists go wild, all they will injure is frozen sagebrush and some minimalistic federal buildings.
btw, the feds are still ‘pursuing’ the Utah Bundys (not the ‘Married With Children’ Bundys) in civil court over the issues raised in the earlier standoff.
It makes you wonder how many are receiving federal subsidies for operating their ‘ranches.’

dobroParticipantThe dozen to twenty or so sad sack losers at the wildlife refuge are going to be getting pretty cold. It’s in the low 20s and snowing and the heat’s been cut off. I doubt they’ll last out the week.
But it does show how the “liberal” media works. These jackasses have daily press conferences covered by all the cable “news” networks to deliver their right wing word salad mumbo jumbo. Anybody remember the daily press briefings from Black Lives Matter during any of their non violent unarmed protests? No, me neither. Anybody see Bernie’s Wall Street speech today? No, me neither.
When they walk out of the building they need to surrender their guns and be arrested. Or are they just putting on another “reality” TV show to distract the rubes from their real enemies?

JanSParticipantThere are police, etc. from all over the PNW who have descended on Burns “to help out”. The schools are closed for a week, and parents are pissed. And townspeople are on edge because of the huge police presence, the news presence, and the yayhoos out there doing the occupying’s presence. While none of this seems harmful to you guys, it is to them.

JanSParticipantso now there are reports of guys getting into fights in the “compound”, and guys sneaking off at night and getting hotel rooms, and then there’s the one guy who took the money, went into town, and drank it all up, went on a binge. Aren’t they Mormons? Or is that just the Bundy’s? (wonder if Peg Bundy is there)
