sbreParticipantFor the past 3 to 4 years there is something growing in the vicinity of our backyard/garage that smells like burning pot (marijuana) during certain times of the year, like right now!
I smell it daily when I return home from work.
Today while pulling weeds in the side-yard a young man stopped to chat, during the conversation he asked ..”So, you’re a chronic pot-head huh?”, and when I answered ‘no’ the disappointment was very evident on his face.
This is the third time in less than 2 years someone has made a comment to me regarding pot being smoked in our home and the odor carrying to the outside, but it’s not us! And there’s no way its due to a neighbor as this area is along the street AND the aroma is only smelled in that one location.
What could be growing around here that puts off an odor that smells so much like pot?

BonnieParticipantThere is something over by Kenyon and 35th that smells like pot. I think of it every time I go by (Locol, The Westy, Kenyon Hall area) editing to say that No, I’m not blaming those 3 businesses! It’s just the area I smell it)

anonymeParticipantIt probably IS pot. When indoor crops get ripe, so does the smell. Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint the source, as it drifts a long way. My guess would be an indoor grower somewhere nearby.

JTBParticipantPerhaps skunk cabbage this time of the year. Hops has an aroma similar to fresh marijuana but not so much as when the weed is burned.

waynsterParticipantwait if you walk around your neighborhood and see just funyun bags everywhere around the house and when the door opens a cloud of smoke rolls out… wait that sounds familiar hmmm… then you know they smoke.. funyuns great for munchies…. lmao….wait grow house shades always closed boards or paper over windows hear fans going at all hours bright lights seeping out between cracks in windows never see anyone often then you might have a grow house…. oh and yes the funyun bags too lmao…… the smell can be compost or rotting vegetation large compost piles will smell….
